Meditation differs from other ways of relaxation. While meditating we are relaxed but focused and awake. At the same time we get more attentive and conscious, unlike other relaxation techniques.
It is normal that when you start meditating all kind of thoughts will enter the mind and keep you from feeling relaxed. Also feelings of physical unease (a back that hurts, ´sleeping´ feet etc.) do occur at the beginning to be seated at the same position for a while. After meditating more often you will experience calmness and sensations of peace and happiness. Usually after mediation you feel energetic, calm and steady.
You can start with group meditation any time you like as long as you are open minded. The group energy will help you to get concentrated and enter into mediation more easy. Meditation does not have any negative effect at your body or mind.
You must sit on a cushion on the floor with your legs crossed. If, in the beginning, this is hard for you or you are not able to straighten your back in this position, your posture will be adjusted to keep your back straighten. Your teacher will help you with this.
After the silence during meditation, soft music will sound and your teacher´s voice will guide you.
The moment you are aware of it, you will just observe the thought and let it go and focus on your breath again.
At Granada Spirit, yoga classes are thought in Spanish and English. However, your teacher does speak German and Dutch as well so if there is anything not clear she will help you understand it.
